Weekend Textile Retreat (16-19 June 2023)
About the Course
Textile Retreats in 2023. These long weekends are for those who want to relax and knit, crochet, embroider or spin with like-minded people, whilst being looked after at a lovely farmhouse in France.
Maison d'Olive offers a lovely house, studio and garden for you to rest and relax whilst working on your own project or maybe purchase some hand dyed yarns and patterns for inspiration from our Studio Pop Up Shop.
Whether, you're an expert or just starting out on your textile, there will be lots of tips, tricks and support for you.
Please note there is no textile tuition or materials included in the retreat weekends, we encourage you to bring a project you find relaxing and enjoyable.
We are not able to accomodate portable looms or spinning wheels
Here is a rough itinerary of the weekend:
Friday - pick up from Limoges airport to Maison d"Olive for a drink on the terrace. In the evening we will have dinner in the garden and a chat about the the rest of the weekend whilst getting to know each other.
Saturday and Sunday, after a good breakfast, attendees are free to use the garden, house and studio to knit away to their hearts content. After lunch you will have time to relax, visit local sites and carry on with your own project. If you're anything like us, sitting and knitting around the house, garden, or local river bar with a cold drink, is a dream come true!
Lunch will be at Maison d'Olive under the arbour in the garden.
Saturday evening is a chance to explore the local medieval town of Confolens where we will provide transport and book you into a local restaurant at your own cost.
Monday, it's breakfast, bon voyage, and back to the airport.
All food and drink (wine with evening meal) apart from one meal out on the Saturday night.
Airport collection and drop off from Limoges airport on the day and departure of the retreat and transport around the local area. Please note that if you arrive outside of these times we may need to charge extra for collection from Limoges or Limoges Airport.

Hand-dyed Wall Hanging
On this retreat you'll have plenty of time to learn how to hand-dye different yarns and roving and then have tuition on how to use this yarn plus yarns from our expensive stash, to create a wonderful textured wall hanging. You will be able to take this wallhanging home as it will fold into your suitcase easily.
Our aim is to give you a plenty of help where you need it, but also to give you plenty of time to relax in the lovely garden at Maison d'Olive or to chill in the house.
We will have local trips out - the river bar a few kilometres away is fab to sit in the shade with a cold drink and relax and knit by the river. Don't forget to bring a project if you fancy.
Also at the house will be Bernie (Val's husband) who is our back up person for transport and cooking! He's a keen cyclist, loves music and is great fun. He is tasked with building a bar in the garden so hopefully he will have completed this by the time you arrive! We have a small, very old, very quiet, Border Terrier called Bob. He's quite the star and people have said that he alone made their stay!
